Golden-Bronze Smokey Eye

Today I filmed a tutorial for this look, which is a neutral golden/bronze smokey eye, perfect for autumn because of the colours.  This is one of my favourite go-to looks and even though golds and browns aren't supposed to make brown eyes like mine "pop", I don't care because I love the colours so much and I always wear them anyway!  In my opinion, there are no rules to make-up and fashion, you wear what makes you feel good and that's it.  Here's how I achieved this very simple look:

Base: I didn't use any eye-shadow primer, I only applied some Benefit Get Even powder using the sponge that comes with it, both to under my eyes and on top of my lids.  This gives it a good base and sets the foundation/concealer so that it doesn't crease.
Eyeshadow: I used Kiko eyeshadow in #80 (a shimmery golden/champagne colour) all over the lid.  Then with an angled brush, I applied MAC's Mulch (a reddish bronze colour) to my crease.  I used the lightest shade (a shimmery vanilla) from my Sleek Storm palette and applied it to the brow bone and blended it into the other shadows for a more neutral daytime appropriate look.
Eyeliner: Using Maybelline's Line Definer in black on the top lids, I drew a thick line (yours doesn't need to be so thick, I just favour this look!) and then I used Impala's Waterproof pencil liner in black along the bottom and top waterline.
Mascara: I finished it all off with CoverGirl's LashBlast Volume in black.

You can watch the video tutorial of how I did this here.

I also dyed my hair today using my usual colour...yes, you guessed it:  Garnier Nutrisse Creme in #10 Chamomile.  It's the best colour for my hair, a perfect extra-light honey blonde!  And it's super cheap too!  You can buy it at the supermarket or drugstore.  Let me know what you think.  Do you have any at-home box hair dyes that work for you?  Don't forget to let me know if you like this make-up look and if you think you'll try it yourself!

Stay Stylish!
xoxo

  5. Hey Anna I'm a new subscriber - love your blog! I have Mulch use it as a crease color as well for a day time look. I have brown eyes and I think that for a night time look if you use Mulch around your eye and smoke it out it looks really nice - of course along with black liner. :)

  9. Thank you guys :) I'm happy you like the look and hair colour!

@Anonymous #1 Thank you! I will wear red more often, thanks for the compliment :)

@Holly Yes definitely try this hairdye, I think it will suit you really well!

@Liesl Yes, it's such a comfortable "I know this will work" look, haha!

@Rebecca The boots are from Dune! I believe that outfit is already in my Outfit of the Day section, but I was wearing ballet flats instead of boots :)

@Chrystal Thanks for subscribing/reading my blog! And yup, I totally agree, Mulch is a beautiful crease colour!

@Anonymous #2 It was a long process but basically I went to the salon to have them "fix" the problem! They dyed it a dark ash blonde (darker than my natural colour) and added some light blonde highlights. I waited it out about 3-4 months and my hair eventually lightened back to its natural colour (a dark honey blonde) and then when the colour had basically all grown out, I used the Garnier Nutrisse in Chamomile.

@Anonymous #3 Thank you so much, what a lovely compliment! <3

@vs Thank you, hun! I'm glad you like it :)

  10. I think you're right! There's no rules to make-up or fashion, if it suits us why not wear it? ;) And the golden-brown eye make up looks beautiful on you!
That hair color really suits you best! My fav box hair dye is the L'oreal casting cream gloss, it's a semi-permanent hair color that makes my hair super shiny and smooth! When I want a permanent hair dye I always buy garnier nutrisse in the shade #8 Natural Blonde, it's exactly like my natural hair color, but always adds some cute highlights and they last longer than the semi-permanent hair color!

  11. Great look! I love neutrals and unless done completely wrong they flatter everybody so much!

I haven't had time to keep up with what you've been doing lately and when I watched your latest video I noticed your lighter hair ;) really pretty!
Garnier make some great box dies, dont they? :D
I use Belle Color in 10.0, also a light golden blonde on the packaging, but on my hair it comes out light strawberry blonde. I really like that as it lightens my naturally med-dark blonde hair but also keeps some shades of red. My mom made me try this, she's used it two shades lighter for years.

    happy autumn! xxxx
