Week 18 Bump Update!

2 April 2012

Watch my 18 week pregnancy vlog here!

How far along? 18 weeks!  Okay, I have DEFINITELY popped this week :)  I even had my first stranger ask me when I was due, woo hoo!  (Granted, we were in a baby boutique and she was the store-owner...but still, it was exciting nonetheless!)
Total weight gain: 9lbs!  I weighed in at 126lbs this morning -- which is up 1lb from last week!  I am still right on track according to this tracker, yay! :)  My measurements are waist: 28" (1" up from last week!) and tummy: 34" (up 1/2" from last week).
Maternity clothes? My friend Sam sent me the most AMAZING gift ever -- a maternity sports bra from Motherhood.  It truly was one of the most thoughtful presents I'd ever received, because my boobs were getting really uncomfortable and I couldn't find any supportive maternity bras at all -- they all seemed so flimsy and saggy, ew!  But this one is fantastic!  It's a sports bra, so it supports both your boobs & back, it has no underwire (which is what I'm used to, but it's not advisable for maternity-wear) however it still lifts and pushes up your bust so that it doesn't look all saggy and gross.  I honestly cried when I tried it on, it was soooo comfortable!  Thank you so much Sam! :)
Stretch marks? None yet!  This week I've been using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula whenever I shower in the morning & Fairhaven Health Dream Belly Butter at night.
Sleep: I've been sleeping pretty well and I can't stress enough how helpful the DreamGenii pillow has gotten!  I absolutely love her, yes she's a girl and I've actually decided to call her Brenda.  Ha ha ha!
Best moment this week: My doctor's appointment -- we got to hear Pancoga's heartbeat!!  It was the sweetest sound ever, I could listen to it all day :)  This was not expected at all, but my doctor is really nice (unlike the ultrasound technician at the hospital :/) and he brought out a Doppler so we could listen to it and told us the heart-rate -- it was 139/140.  I am totally thinking BOY!!  I know the heart-rate thing is just an old wives' tale but my best friend who's also pregnant with a baby girl had a much faster heart-rate!  So...you never know!
Miss anything? No...I honestly don't miss anything and I am really loving the 2nd trimester so far!
Movement: Still nothing :(  I'm really anxious to feel something soon!  I felt Sina's pups and got really emotional, it was crazy!  I can't wait to meet her babies too :)
Food cravings: I'm going to be really boring again and say...no.  It's weird!  But I don't crave anything.  I'm eating normally, lots of snacks throughout the day and that's about it!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Shrimp!
Gender: We are finding out this week, and I am SO excited!  I hope Pancoga co-operates and it will be easy to see.  My doctor doesn't understand why we want to find out, I don't understand how anyone wouldn't want to!  But I suppose it is very personal for everyone!
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: Cramping/stomach pains -- these are still happening every so often, some days are worse than others but I still do try to eat every 3 hours even if I don't want to.  Today I have no stomach ache, phew!  The acne has definitely calmed down and I'm sticking to using minimal products on my face.  Nails & hair are still growing lots!  I think I need a haircut soon :)
Belly button in or out? In!
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender!  Woo hoo :)  I'm trying to think of a creative way to reveal it after...any ideas are much appreciated!

Stay Stylish!

  2. You should reveal the gender by baking a cake. Make a white cake mix but put either pink or blue food coloring in it. When you cut into the cake it will reveal the gender! That's what I did :-) you are so cute with your belly!

  4. Have the doctor put the results of the gender in an envelope, and without looking at them, give them to a baker. Have them colour the inside of the cake with the colour of the gender. That way, it is a surprise for you & your family! :)

  5. I know of a couple who had a gender revealing party!! They took an envelope to the doctor had him write the gender on a slip of paper and seal it in the envelope, then they took it to a florist and had her make up a huge box with either blue or pink balloons, then they invited their family and friends over and opened the huge box to release the balloons!
