Blogmas Day 13: New Baby Books!

Emilia decided she would pick a different pose today...I think she's quite happy with it don't you?!  Her new outfit is from my mama who bought it for her yesterday when she was Christmas shopping!  The grey leggings are size 6-12 months, can you believe it?!  Girlfriend has some chubby little leggies ;)  The dress/top is size 3-6 and fits a little big though - so weird!  And both items are from Baby Gap.  Her star socks are from Zara and the headband is from Walmart (I was a gift from an American viewer!).

Well we tried some more with our schedule and then I had a bit of a mommy meltdown because Emilia fell asleep in her swing while I was vacuuming at 12:30 and she was supposed to go down for her nap (in her crib) at 1.  I was running behind on everything else and feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the things I had to do so I popped her in for a few minutes and she was out like a light...gah!  I felt like a failure! :( It's so hard to get everything right - especially when I'm trying to look after the doggies and keep the house clean all at the same time.  Sometimes it just gets to be too much!  But after some cuddles from Jonathan everything was alright again. :)

We attempted to go to the Farmers' Market today which was another big fail as the weather took a turn for the worse and it ended up pouring rain so we took shelter inside and instead ate lunch at the Bagel Bar ;)  The Bankok bagel is my favourite right now!  When I was pregnant I loved the Ploughman's without the meat!  While we were out we finally got our weekly shop done...we usually do it on Mondays but things have just been so crazy lately that we didn't have time!

I also picked up two new baby books from Easons today, The New Contented Little Baby Book by Gina Ford and Annabel Karmel's New Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner.  I already have one of Annabel Karmel's books on baby food recipes and I love it!  I can't wait to start making Emilia's food when she starts eating solids!

And as promised here is the link to my Winterlicious Tag video!  Sorry it's a day late but I hope you was quite hard to film though because Emilia was crying as she woke up from her nap a little earlier than I expected :(  But she is definitely getting used to sleeping in her crib and seems to really like it - yay!

Stay Stylish!

  1. Routines are great and well worth doing but don't freak out if they go off schedule. My daughter was in a fantastic routine and slept great as a result. However I was a bit too strict with it and I would have a meltdown if it went askew. I suffered from anxiety a bit as a result. I'm a lot more relaxed on my second. Once they have a rough idea of what is coming next then it generally makes for a content baby. Having some sort of a shedule will give you a bit of time back too and it's great. Stick with it but allow for hiccups. Don't be too hard on yourself. Being a Mammy is brilliant and very rewarding but it is bloody hard work. You get no lunch break, no coffee break and in time you will no toilet break alone! Don't start doubting yourself or being hard on yourself. There are plenty of people out there only too willing to put you down and tell you you are doing everything wrong when it comes to babies. Stick to your guns. Mammy knows best xx

    1. Exactly. This is why the guidlines in books should be used just as that!!! as guidelines in general. Babies are not machines and baby books are not manuals.

The advice is abundant in the New Contented Little Baby Book; some of it was good for us and some of it was bad... after all, only in religion do you have to agree completely with a book :D

My wife wrote a review on the new contented little baby book outlining the good and the bad (for us) at The New Contented Little Baby Book

I'm hungry now because of the photo of that Bankok bagel :D

  2. totally agree with comment above, hang in there Anna xx

  3. You bought that book when you were pregnant. Liar

  4. You shouldn't dress boys in pink

    1. Enough! Where is the pleasure is bullying a 3 month old? This blog clearly does not make you happy so why read it?!
Emelia is lovely and Anna, like all new mam's, is figuring things out as she goes. No one is perfect and few people get it right instantly! Your doing a brilliant job Anna, don't stress about a routine, my boy didn't have one till he was seven months old and he is just fine. And as for the baby swing if it makes her happy then put her in and don't you dare feel guilty. She will learn a lot just from looking at her surroundings and being talked to when she is in it.
Chin up, you'll never please everyone!

    2. I agree, this is enough... why come to this page if you don't like her? It's just crazy

    3. Exactly...people seem to enjoy bullying a baby and her parents no matter what they do. Jofus and Anna could donate their house to charity and they would still find fault. Get over yourself.

  5. Congrats on your baby! My baby boy is 5.5 months old now and i just got anna's baby food book. I advise u not to freak out over nap times, most importantly is duration of the nap and the bedtime retiual, my baby has been sleeping through the night since he was around 8-10 weeks and i've been following tracey hogg's book " on becoming a baby whisperer"

Btw am 25 yes old too. Best of luck

Please be nice...the world could use some positivity! :)
