What I Ate Wednesday {11.1.15}

Here's what I ate last Saturday when my mum & sisters were visiting!

Breakfast was the same - porridge with almond milk, 1/2 banana, blueberries, cinnamon and a black coffee. Except this time I used unsweetened almond milk (they were out of the regular kind when I did our weekly shop) and I don't recommend it! It tastes really bland, kind of like water. I way prefer the normal one!

For lunch we went to Carluccio's and I ordered the goat's cheese salad. It was delicious!! I love goat's cheese but Jonathan's not really a fan so we don't eat it a lot at home. This is why I almost always order it when we're out!

One of the other reasons why I got a salad for lunch is because I really wanted to splurge & get dessert! Carluccio's has the yummiest sweets - this is the pear and almond tart served with vanilla ice-cream. My mouth is watering just looking at the picture! With this I also had a black coffee (not pictured).

For dinner we got Papa John's and I ordered a medium Garden Party pizza with a thin crust (I ate about half). It's got tons of veggies on it like sweetcorn, red onion, peppers, mushrooms & tomatoes. Makes me feel not so bad about eating pizza...he he ;)

After the children went to bed, we watched Celebrity Big Brother (who else is obsessed this season?!) and I opted for a healthier snack of an orange and strawberry Fruitopolis yoghurt. I used to eat oranges like this all the time when I was pregnant with Emilia - it was my number one craving! I also drank 2L of water that day...the best way I find to do this is by keeping a 500ml water bottle with me at all times. I take one in the morning and re-fill it with filtered water - so long as I drink four of these I know I'm meeting my goal!

What did you eat today?

  13. Ooh that desert looks so yummy! I like that tip about keeping a smaller bottle of water with out, I find it so much easier to drink lots of water that way :) If I have a 2 ltr one it just seems so daunting haha xx

  17. Nice post Anna and your food looks delish even though I don't eat dairy. I make oatmeal with cinnamon, fruit and almond milk every morning too. I love to put frozen cherries inside my hot porridge/oatmeal, that way they melt super fast and help to get oats cooler. However I do use unsweetened almond milk (alpro), it is a bit bland and weird at first but I prefer it because it's sugarfree and therefore a bit healthier for us. Instead of sugar I sometimes put 1tsp of maple syrup or honey inside my oatmeal and it's delicious. If you're looking for healthier pizza sometimes you could try cauliflower pizza base, it's amazing, crispy but much lower in calories. I also try to drink 2L of water a day. I start with fresh lemon water and green tea in the morning. I love how your meals are always balanced, and that you ate salad just to enjoy dessert, he he. I'm same when it comes to that

  37. Thanks to you I have found mueller yogurt and I love it! We only have a few varieties here in the US so sadly I can't get the light version but it's still awesome and low enough cal to for my plan.

    I still haven't been able to get myself to love oatmeal, but I keep trying. You make it look delicious and I do so well when I eat it. I wish there was a way to make it taste like risotto and still be good for you :)
