Throwback Thursday: Merry Christmas!

Christmas is almost upon us so here's a festive family photo (not including Erika as she wasn't born yet...sorry sis! You were a later addition!). This one was taken on the front steps of our house in Baltimore. Check out Emma's festive tights, haha! How weird is it that so many memories can be brought back just by an item of clothing?! Is anybody else like this? Almost every piece of clothing in this picture brings me back to a different time and I feel like I have a significant emotional connection to each (more so my mum & dad's clothes to be honest...for example my dad wore that coat and hat for as long as I can remember). I genuinely think this is why I tend to keep clothes for as long as I do and when people give me crap for spending a bit more money on them I just want to roll my eyes. Considering the amount of time I keep my favourite / most-loved pieces in my wardrobe I think the amount I pay for some good quality items is definitely worth it.

Anyway, enough rambling! How are you all prepared for Christmas?! It's in TWO days!! How did that happen? I think we're pretty much set, aside from the mountain of wrapping I need to do. It's times like these when I do wish our two elves of the shelf would chip in and help mama out a bit, instead of messing up my house every bloody night! Oh, and I also randomly decided yesterday that now would be a good time to (re)start potty training Eduardo. You know, because I love adding stress to my life!!! Honestly I'm amazed at how impeccable my timing is!

  4. Hi Anna, that photo of your Dad brings me back to my days in UCC where he lectured me in Italian. I have to say myself and all my classmates just loved him! He was such a gentleman, very entertaining to listen to and loved to talk about his family of whom he was very proud. I only heard recently that he had passed away and I was very sad to hear it. I'm sure he'll be shining down on you this Christmas as proud as ever of his lovely family. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year, Eileen, class of 2004 xx.

  6. Happy to come and chip in wrapping, I've had my Christmas organised since October and presents wrapped since November! I am usually not a fan of Christmas due to family drama a few years ago, but this year I've managed to find a spring in my step and look at the meaning of Christmas by spreading love to everyone around me! It helps keep my mind occupied from the negativity :')
Have a great Christmas and hope 2017 brings you wonderful adventures! :')

  8. I definitely have an emotional attachment to clothes and pretty much any other item that brings me back to happy times. Even if there's a sweater that I kind of hate but my mom bought for me, I will not give it up because it makes me think of her and how much I miss and love her. I love seeing your throwback photos :) Thanks for sharing!

  11. Christmas has come around so quickly hasn't it!?! Feels like yesterday I was decorating my house for Halloween! I guess time flies when you're having fun!

In regards to Eduardo, I think you said it before but just go with the flow and do it when he wants to! He will get it in his own time and your job will be so much easier!

Anyway, have a wonderful Christmas. I wish you all the best

  14. I love Emma's happy little face here! I enjoyed 'visiting' with you during the house tour- it looks so festive and lovely.

Years ago my mom taught me to buy fewer pieces of classic basic clothing of good quality so that I wasn't constantly replacing my wardrobe every year or so. I didn't appreciate it when I was younger as much as I do now. I think in the long run it's less expensive.

Well, enjoy your holidays Anna, and I'm really looking forward to your blogs and vlogs next year!

Much love to you and your family from New Jersey, USA
