Le Floof TV: Finding Your Identity (Tattoos)

Today Jonathan made a short vlog about his tattoos and what each of them mean to him.  I thought this was a really interesting topic because it seems like everyone has a different opinion on tattoos.  What do you think about them?  Do you like them?  Would you ever get a tattoo?  I like them on Jonathan, he's my boyfriend and I love him but I also think they suit him.  Though personally I would never get a tattoo...I just don't think they are right for ME.  I never wanted one and don't think I ever will at this stage.  And strangely enough Jonathan agrees...he prefers me without.

My father was born in 1938 (a long time ago :) and he was always SO against tattoos...he used to say tattoos were only for sailors and criminals!  While this may sound ridiculous to people nowadays, my dad was actually justified in thinking this because in his day the only people who had tattoos were really....well, sailors and criminals.  I remember he would find it very difficult not to judge people with tattoos - it wasn't his fault and I can't blame him!  It took him a looong time to get used to Jonathan's and he used to joke about leaving Jonathan money in his will to "go to California and get rid of them".  Apparently he had read about somebody in California lasering off their tattoos...my dad was really very "old-school" in a lot of ways :)

So, what's your opinion on tattoos?  Let me know in the comments!

xoxo
Anna

I have two tattoos, I got the first when I was 16 and the next at 18. . . I wish I hadn't gotten either and am in the process of getting one removed! (SOOOO expensive. . .) I say think very hard before your put something on your body permanently!! Make sure your tattoos have meaning that lasts forever or I guarantee you will regret it!!!!

hi anna,
i have a back piece of some lovely butterflies and flowers. i absolutely love it!! and anyone i have showed loves it also and thinks it is very "me" :) it took a very long time lots of pain but i was told by the tattooist that i was like a rock and he couldnt believe i sat for sooooo long :) but i think since i have had my children i have a good pain threshold!
i have 2 other small tattoos also but i have them placed carefully so they cant be seen unless i show them to people. one on my hip and one on my wrist, which i can cover with a bangle if needs be. love my tattoos :) but as cassandra said think long and hard before you get a tattoo!!
much luv xxxx

I have 3 tattoos and love all of them. I have a rose in the shape of a heart on my left shoulder blade and my husband has a matching one, we got them when we got married. I have a night/day piece across my lower back and a treble clef on my right calf. I do not regret any of them and want to get more.

I have a small tribal tattoo of a butterfly on my back shoulder, my sister and I went to get tattoos together. She went first and I was sooo nervous. But, the only pain I felt was in the initial stage and after like 5 minutes I didn't feel much. I'm really glad I didn't get any colour with it because I'm very white and the black shows up very well, just like I wanted.
I've thought about getting another tattoo but it would have to be something really significant to me and symbolic of a transition in my life. So maybe when I have a child I will get another one!

Johnathan is hilarious! He sorta sounds like a Newfoundlander :P (Sorry I'm from there and the whole "aren't ya gonna colour that in boy" thing sounded exactly like my dad!) Haha anyways, I love your tattoos and I can't wait til I'm old enough to get one :)
