I Changed My Hair: Dark Blonde!

Hey guys!

I recently mentioned that I wanted to change my hair back to its natural colour.  Being light blonde was fun but I was getting pretty conscious of how fake it looked in certain lights and I'm always aware of how damaging it is to my hair.  My natural colour is a dark ash blonde with some natural honey highlights that come out in the sun.  I don't know if I'll ever get back to that...we'll see!  But I wanted to go back to natural to make my hair healthy and also for my wedding!  I want to look exactly like "me" on my wedding day if that makes sense!

So I picked a box dye by Garnier Nutrisse because I love and trust the brand.  This time I used Garnier Nutrisse Radiant Blondes in the shade 7.31 Dark Golden Ash Blonde.  I felt this described my natural colour best!  I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out.  I feel it might be a tiny bit browner than my natural colour but it's a nice change from light blonde!  And now I'm on a strict hair dye diet...no more dyeing for a looong time!  If I really feel the need to I may get a few highlights but I'm not sure...we'll see how it looks in a couple of months.  If I'm lucky it will highlight naturally as it used to before.

My favourite thing about this colour is that it's so low-maintenance and my hair feels amazing.  It's so much healthier and softer now.  I've also been using a new all natural hair care routine which I'll be blogging about soon and I'm really happy with how it works.  Another thing I've noticed now is that I need to start filling in my brows again.  When I had light blonde hair I absolutely HATED the way my brows looked filled in, even when I used the lightest colour possible it always looked so fake.  But when I was darker red/auburn last year I filled them in all the time.  Now that I'm dark blonde I need to fill them in again and I've actually found that Benefit's Hoola bronzer is an amazing colour for me!  Which is great because I've been using my Bare Minerals bronzer on my face instead so now Hoola has a purpose again...yay!

So let me know what you think, and sorry these pics are a bit orange-y but the lighting wasn't the best in my room this evening!

Stay Stylish!

  7. I'd kill for this colour!! :) It really, really makes u feel softer and fresher, absolutely natural and mixing your features. I'm about to go back to my natural colour too, it's a very light brown or very light chestnut to say. I find it too hard ti mantain a very long hair silky and healthy when i have to paint it constantly. I hope i'll have enough patience...i said i'll never put hair colour again after i go there, but when seeing your colour now made me dream of wearing it :)
You look great with the new look!

  9. Hey Anna,
I can relate so much to your wish to go back to your natural hair colour. I´ve been dying my hair for the last 10 years and at the moment IO am so sick of it! But now at age 23 I start to get grey, so I HAVE to dye. Now I am a light brown but I want to go back to a dark blonde.
BTW: I really LOVE your blog and YT channel <3<3
Much love and greetings from Germany!

  16. Great choice, Anna! The color goes so amazingly great with your eyes and eyebrows. I loved your very light blonde hair, especially the way You looked in Summer 2009 (I think it was also the matter of the make-up You've been using then), but this look is so pure, natural and gorgeous :-) You should use some radiant colors (on cheeks and eyelids) to make your beautiful face look more happy and glowing. Maybe greens?

    Take care!

  28. I really like this color on you. I think it suits you best of all the hair colors you have had. It really brings out your skin tone and eyes. :)
I have tried to be red as well (and blond once- that was a disaster!) and light brown and I always go back to my natural hair color, Dark Brown. It suits me the best, so I always suggest enhance your natural color! :)

  29. OOOOOHHHHH YES, you did it!!!!! I have ever been so in love with your red/brown haircolour last year and always thought that you have to darken it a little bit again. And since you mentioned it in one of the latest vlogs at Tesco I was so excited...

The light blonde was very pretty too, but now you're looking sooooo... I don't know... BREATHTAKING! :) It gives your beautiful face a nice frame! Somehow you remind me of Julia Roberts with darker hair!

Love it such much! Greetings from Germany, Katrin <3

  41. You did exactly what I have been thinking of doing for some time now! That same dark ash blond is also my natural color (I think we actually have the exact same skin tone and hair color). I have been highlighting my hair with a lighter shade of blond for years and years although I am not a big fan of all the chemicals that comes with the process. I have been just afraid that my face will look more tired and gray if my hair is darker and 'ashier'. But it looks totally gorgeous on you, so I might gather all my courage and try it our at some point! Congrats for a great coloring job, Anna! :)

  44. Hey Anna!I did the exact same thing with my hair.I had my hair platnum blonde for about 3-4 years and strawberry blonde for about 1year so my hair became really damaged no matter how much conditioner and treatments I used.Recently I dyed my hair a dark ash blonde too similar to my natural hair colour and I love it.I dyed it last november and it still looks great and healthy.Ive had so many compliments since, so I think Im done with dying my hair for the time being.Great post my dear, your hair colour really suits you!xx
