Beauty Tuesday: My Makeup Routine!

One of my most requested videos/posts is my everyday makeup routine. The only reason I do these so infrequently is because I very rarely switch it up! In fact you will notice a whole lot of similarities in this one with my last makeup routine post both in the techniques and the products I use. It changed slightly a little after then when I purchased a new eyeshadow palette and it has remained the same up until now! I am a creature of habit and when I find something I like, I tend to stick with that. So this is how I apply my makeup every single day.

This is my face without makeup. As you can see I have a lot of blemishes, under-eye circles, pretty fair eyebrows when they're not filled in, and my skin lacks a lot of colour around this time of year as it doesn't get to see much sun!

This is how I look after applying my everyday face! Much better :) I normally go for a natural smokey eye, bronzer, some peachy pink blush and a nude lip. Here are the products I used and how I did it:

The contents of my everyday makeup bag. (The bag is from Ted Baker!)

THE BASE

I start out with concealer. I use Estée Lauder DoubleWear Concealer in Light Medium. This covers all my dark circles & blemishes - I just apply with my fingers. Same with foundation! I use Estée Lauder DoubleWear Stay In Place Foundation in Ivory Beige. It really does stay in place all day! It covers everything, creates a flawless base and leaves a matte finish. I also apply this using my fingers. Next I cover my lids & prime them for eyeshadow so that it will stay on all day. I also do this even if I'm not planning on wearing any eyeshadow as it covers up any redness or blue/purple veins on the eyelids. For this I use Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. It is the same colour as my foundation/concealer. I apply using my ring fingers. After I've done my base, I dust over the whole face with powder to set everything. For this I use Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent. With these base products, I never get oily or shiny on my T-zone and never ever have to touch-up or blot my makeup (even in the summer!). It stays put all day, from the moment I put it on at 8:30 in the morning!

CONTOURING

I contour my cheekbones, temples, jawline and nose using Benefit Hoola Bronzer. This is a matte powder which helps to define my face & give it some colour. I then brighten up the cheeks with some blush. I add NARS Orgasm (a shimmery peachy pink) to the apples of my cheeks using a kabuki brush. This makes my skin look so much more awake! Next I dust some LA Creative Illuminating Powder in Stardust along the tops of my cheekbones to give a soft glow. I don't apply this anywhere else on my face but you could if you wanted to. (I have combination/oily skin and don't like the shiny look!)

THE EYES

To frame the face I define my eyebrows using HD Brow Kit in Vamp with an angled eyeliner brush. I use the colour Rich Brown. I then whip out my Dior Eyeshadow Palette in Earth Reflection - a beautiful selection of neutral shimmery shadows which are perfect for everyday. I first take the lightest vanilla colour with a flat eyeshadow brush an apply it to the brow bone & inner corner. Then I take the taupe with the opposite side of the same brush and apply that to my lids. I define my crease with the dark brown shadow using a fluffy eyeshadow brush. I then blend that using a duo-fibre eyeshadow brush so that everything is nice & smokey. I also use the same colour to define my lower lash line using an eyeliner brush. Next I line my upper lash line with Estée Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Liquid Eyeliner and when that's dry I smudge it slightly using the same eyeshadow/brush. I apply Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Eye Pencil in Onyx to my upper & lower water line. I finish off with mascara - my favourite is CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume and I apply that to top & bottom lashes.

THE LIPS

As I mentioned in yesterday's post - my current go-to favourite lipstick is Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy in Desirable. It's the perfect nude and the formula is so soft & buttery...I can't recommend it enough!

And that's how I do my makeup! You can watch the full tutorial below:
