What I Ate Wednesday {15.3.16}

Breakfast (8am)

We are trying out a new breakfast every day this week in an effort to get the kids (well, Emilia) to enjoy it a bit more as normally it takes her about an hour to finish her porridge. So I figured I'd change things up a bit and so far so good! This morning I had greek yoghurt with granola, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Before that I also drank a cup of Clipper Rise & Shine tea to aid digestion (works like a charm!). And of course I had my usual 1/2 litre of water. After breakfast I made myself a cup of black coffee. (I don't think I could live without my morning coffee!)

Morning Snack (11am)

After my workout I had a banana and tbsp of peanut butter. This is my favourite post exercise snack! And my peanut butter servings just keep getting bigger & bigger, ha ha! While working out I drank another 1/2 litre of water.

Lunch (1pm)

For lunch I had beetroot and feta salad with mixed beans, pickled gherkins and red onion. It was so crunchy & delicious! I think beetroot and goat's cheese or feta is one of my favourite combinations ever!

Afternoon Snack (4pm)

At about 4 o'clock I was hungry again so I had an apple & granola bar with my coffee. I love these Nature's Path organic trail mix granola bars. Jonathan loves the dark chocolate chip kind so we buy about 2 packs of them each! I also drank another 1/2 litre of water as I always get really thirsty around this time of day!

Dinner (6:30pm)

I think we had the same dinner as this last week but I'm not sure...it is one of our staples though! This is chicken pilaff made with jasmine rice, chicken thighs, carrots and coconut oil. I also had some red cabbage stewed with porcini mushrooms (yummy!!) on the side. Along with dinner I downed another 1/2 litre bottle of water.

Dessert (9pm)

After the kids had gone to bed I took my shower and then came downstair to enjoy one of these St. Patrick's Day cupcakes we baked that afternoon! I made these using my usual chocolate cupcake recipe and topped them with buttercream icing to which I added some peppermint extract and a few squirts of green gel food colouring. We decorated them with lucky charms and a Haribo rainbow stick. Even our cases were rainbow themed! I'm not normally a big mint & chocolate fan but I don't think I've ever met a cake I didn't like so of course I tried them...and they are actually really good and moreish! I had mine with a cup of Pukka Detox tea which contains fennel seed, cardamom and licorice root. It was good but the Teapigs Sweet Treat is still my favourite!

And here's the video of what I ate including my workout (which I do three times total...I feel like I repeat myself constantly but I still get questions on this everyday!). What did you eat today?

  2. You certainly are better than me today. I had a good breakfast which was 2 eggs, scrambled, and a large sausagepatty. I know pork isn't the leanest of meats, but it was all I had on hand. I love you and your family, Anna. On days like today when bad things happen or I'm not feeling 100% emotionally okay, your videos & your family vlogs always put a smile on my face, even if it is only about roughly 20 minutes. Your guys' positivity just really puts me in a good mood and I just want to thank you for that. Much love from America! :)xx

  4. Your photos look amazing - I'm all heart-eyed emoji over here! Every meal looks so so amazing for this day. Also, have you tried taking probiotics for your belly? It may help, as I've had troubles with that in the past. Tea did help me!

  7. Hi Anna, all looks healthy, even if you had a cupcake. 😋 I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I'm eating small portions at the moment due to heartburn! For breakfast I ate out, had scrambled eggs on brown toasted bread. With a tea. For lunch I made a Greek salad, I also live feta cheese! I had loads of olives with it. For dinner I made spicy bean burger. I have snacks inbetween and lots of water early morning and late afternoon. I also have a snack around 1-2 am, usually granola or cereal. I also eat fruit and prunes. This all sounds healthy but in this pregnancy I've also craved sweet things and I try to resist and fail... I do Pilates nearly every day now my maternity leave started. Hoping baby turns up soon!!!

I have a green cupcake base though but I wanted to know what the recipe was for the chocolate cupcakes you used. They looked amazing!! We have St Patty's special Lucky Charms available here in the US so I am going to use those as well! :)

  23. Oh my son is SO painful when it comes to breakfast at the moment and I realised the same as you...he pretty much had been having the same thing (or at least very similar) for SOOOO long. Are you finding the change helpful? I definitely think I need to switch things up a little. It just takes so much more brain-power in the morning haha (brain power I don't have). xx

  24. Hi Anna,

Love your videos! I heard you mention a couple of times that it's coming up to your time of the month and wondered what sanitary products you use?

I work for a company that offers a range of organic cotton tampons, pads and liners and thought you might be interested in the associated health benefits, compared to mainstream brands, which are mostly made of man-made materials that can irritate the most sensitive part of your body. Thought that might be of interest to you and your followers.

    Thanks,
    Daisy
